Sunday October 30, 2016 at 3:30 PM

At the Shiv Mandir, 5824 Second Avenue, Niagara Falls

Deepawali is a time to rejoice, a time to thank, and a time to celebrate!

Shri Lakshmi Puja will take place at 3:30 PM at the Shiv Mandir on Sunday, October 30, 2016. Puja will be conducted by Acharya Maheshwari Prasad Shuklaji. Acharyaji has the following advice for those wishing to participate in the puja: Please bring your own Puja thalis containing the following items (if they don’t fit on the thali, please bring them in another container):

- Bowl - 1

- Panchamrit (a mixture of ghee, milk, plain yogurt, sugar and honey)

- Rice, about 20 grams

- Misri (rock sugar), about 20 grams

- Laung (cloves) 10 grams

- Elaichi (cardamom) 10 grams

- Paan (betel) leaves - 2

- Supari (arecanut or betelnut) - 1

-Dhoop (incense stick)

- Deep (lamp) - 1

- Kumkum (saffron powder prepared in a paste form)

- 5 types of fruit (e.g., an apple, an orange, a banana etc)

- flowers (a bunch of carnations would be excellent)

- mauli (sacred red-coloured puja thread)

- coins to offer to Lakshmiji during the puja

- a small glass

- a spoon

- paper towel

- matches

Devotees: Please arrive at the Shiv Mandir in time for the Puja with all the above offerings in your puja thali ready to go! Please note that the spiritual vibrations created during a puja are hindered when people interrupt the puja due to a late entrance. Also, a donation to the Niagara Hindu Samaj at the end of the puja would be highly appreciated, as will a dakshina (offering) to Acharya Ji for conducting the puja.

After Lakshmi Puja, Diwali will be celebrated as Acharya Shuklaji leads the Sunday satsang through a session of melodious and spiritually uplifting devotional music followed by aarti and preetibhoj.

We are also celebrating Annakoot on October 30. Please participate by bringing in a plate (approximate size 7 to 9 inches) containing sweets to contribute to the Annakoot display.

Niagara Hindu Samaj wishes you and your loved ones a happy Diwali and a blissful and blessed year ahead!

Happy Diwali!

Shubh Deepawali!

We are grateful that several members of the Samaj community supported us with post-dated cheques in 2015. Please keep up the support in 2016. If you did not participate in 2015, please do so now! Your donations help us to provide numerous badly needed services to the community.

All your contributions are welcome- every little bit counts! If everyone in the Samaj community made regular monthly contributions, our debt load would have been a thing of the past! So please step up and furnish us with your monthly post-dated cheques for any amount that you feel you can contribute on a recurring basis. The Samaj and the Shiv Mandir need your help- please open up your hearts and purse-strings!
